From Sedentary to Strong: My Path to Becoming Physically Fit in 2023 PART 3

From Sedentary to Strong: My Path to Becoming Physically Fit in 2023
Part 3 : Building a Fitness Community

In this segment of my blog, I want to emphasize the importance of commitment in my fitness journey. As I mentioned previously, I've made a firm decision to prioritize going to the gym with very few exceptions, such as travel and illness.

This decision to fully commit to the gym has been a game-changer for me. It's easy to come up with excuses to skip a workout: a busy schedule, tiredness, or just not feeling like it. But I've realized that these excuses only hold me back from achieving my fitness goals. So, I made a pact with myself to eliminate these excuses and make the gym a non-negotiable part of my routine.

One of the challenges I've faced on my journey from being sedentary to becoming physically fit was the feeling of loneliness at the gym. I used to do my routines alone, and while I did have a friend with me, our schedules and workout intensities didn't align. However, things took a turn for the better during my recent visits to the gym.

On my first day back at the gym, I had the pleasure of meeting Cha, a friendly and welcoming individual. We struck up a conversation and quickly realized that we shared a common goal: getting fit. We decided to sync our gym schedules so that we could do our routines together.

Today marked our first day of working out together, and it was a game-changer. As we began our workout, I noticed another gym-goer, a girl using dumbbells. To mix things up, I opted to start with the slam ball. What made this session different was that Cha and I decided to simultaneously use the slam ball and incorporate dumbbell exercises into our routine.

My grade school friend, Lindsay, whom I affectionately call L.A., was also at the gym with a coach named Benjie. Lindsay joined us and shared some valuable tips on how to properly use the ropes. During our rope exercises, we had the chance to strike up a conversation with the girl using the dumbbells, whose name turned out to be Tricia.

Our group continued to grow as two more girls approached us and their name was Cathleen and Camille , and they were eager to join in on the rope exercises. This camaraderie made the gym experience so much more enjoyable. We not only worked out together but also shared laughs and stories, turning what used to be a solitary journey into a shared adventure.

L.A.'s coach noticed our enthusiasm and, despite there being no scheduled classes for the day, decided to call Coach John for assistance. Coach John then provided us with different routines that we could do as a group. This added a new dimension to our workout session, as we cheered each other on, chatted during rests, and encouraged one another to push our limits.

Despite the exhaustion of the day's workout, I felt a newfound motivation to return to the gym. The feeling of loneliness had vanished, replaced by a sense of belonging to a supportive and inspiring fitness community. Going to the gym was no longer a daunting task; it had become a place where I could connect with good-hearted people who shared my fitness journey.

In conclusion, as my fitness journey continues to evolve, I'm thrilled to announce a new development. Inspired by the camaraderie and support I've found at the gym, my fellow fitness enthusiasts and I have decided to create a dedicated group chat on Messenger. This space will allow us to seamlessly share tips, communicate, and keep each other motivated on our path to a healthier and stronger 2023. It's yet another step toward building a stronger sense of community and achieving our fitness goals together. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting addition to our journey in Part 4! Thank you for being a part of this incredible adventure
